The California Kid!
is over at Sacramento Vintage!
These 2 world famous cars have been on display over at the Wally Parks
NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona in celebration of the 1934 Ford's
75th Anniversary. They sat along side a couple other pretty well known 34's, the orange Super Bell Coupe and Billy Gibbon's 'ZZ Top Eliminator' Coupe.
After Father's Day, they rolled into Pleasanton for the Goodguys West Coast Nationals and then over to The Rodder's Journal in South San Francisco for a photo shoot with Steve Coonan and Geoff Miles.
After the photo shoot they headed over to Sacramento Vintage Ford where The California Kid and Jakes yellow Coupe will be on display for a few weeks and then on to Pete & Jake's Hot Rods, in Peculiar, Missouri ... The HOME of these two cars.

Bud Bryan with the 1974 Rod & Custom Magazine's 'Chicken Coupe' issue.

Mr. Bryan is currently a very welcome addition to the Sacramento Vintage Ford staff. ------------------- We would like to thank the Slover Family over at Pete and Jakes for this opportunity to share these hot rodding icons with you. ------------------- Sacramento Vintage has been a Pete & Jake's Hot Rod Parts Dealer since the 70's. And .....we still have some of the ORANGE Micro-Flex bushing squirreled away!
*We are woking on a little 'project' with Tom Medley....but more on that later......
What do we have in our Gift Shop on the California Kid?
We have DVD'd, autographed DVD's, posters, puzzels, lithographs, prints, T-shirts, books, collector books, and only a few of the Danbury Mint die cast California Kid cars.

Pagano's Mountain Pearl F-100
On the cover! HotRod & Restoration Magazine
Lost for 40 years, Pagano's 1953 F-100 is Back!
We have followed the Mountain Pearl project since Tom and TJ brought it back to California from Colorado.
This magazine article was by Steve Stillwell, Editor.
'Pearl' first appeared in black and white in the July 1962 edition of Hot Rod Magazine. One month later, in the first full-color edition of Hot
Rod, the photo appeared again, this time bringing to life the vivid
hues of its paint job and occupying a full page. It was the first
full-page color photo to appear in Hot Rod Magazine.
The Mountain Pearl was completely restored by Tom and TJ Pagano over at Pagano Rod & Custom in Rancho Cordova, California.
(In the Sacramento Vintage showroom earlier this year)

in-depth tech articles on topics including chassis, suspension systems,

49 States in 9 Days in a 1932 Ford? It can be done.
Dave Schaub of San Francisco, CA covers forty-nine States in nine
days for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House in Stanford, CA.
Dave's passion for the American automobile, coupled with the naysayers
that said it couldn't be done, was the motivation to set his sights on
doing this for Children in need. When Roy Brizio of Brizio Street Rods
called Vic Edelbrock and asked for Edelbrock's support in such a
wonderful mission, Vic wholeheartedly agreed. Edelbrock built a
small-block Chevrolet crate engine to power Dave's 1932 Ford Roadster
built by Brizio Street Rod's.
As Dave blogged on day seven of his
journey, "That's where the guys at Roy Brizio Street Rods as well as
the Edelbrock crew came in. Thanks to them, the 49 in 9 Roadster is
purring like a dream. Running an engine 16-18 hours straight daily
takes a strain, but the engine built by the guys in the Edelbrock
engine room is taking it and asking for more.".
All vehicles of 1979 and earlier manufacture are welcome to enter the event.
Even though you may not be in your street rod everyone is welcome to
attend the event. Bring the whole family for a day at the Golden State Nationals held at the California
Exposition & State Fairgrounds. (Cal-Expo)
Although everyone will enjoy the spectacular vehicles as well as the
vehicles' owners there are also other activities at the show.
Here are a few activities that you may enjoy: the Commercial
Exhibitors, and a Women's World (exhibitors with items that will
interest women as well as men and children).
Spectator gate hours: Friday,
October 2nd- 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3rd- 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4th- 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Spectator admission:
13 years and Older $14.00 Children 6 through 12 $5.00 Children 5 and under when accompanied by an adult are FREE
A special discounted $12.00 admission is available for military
personnel with proper military Identification, NSRA members with their
current membership card or anyone 60 years of age and older. One
discounted admission per person.

Pick-N-Pull
Simply put, Pick-n-Pull has combined the power of a Hollander Interchange, with the inventory of the Pick-n-Pull yards.
Hollander has capitalized on this and has developed an interchange program that allows for someone to search across different models of vehicles for the parts that will fit on their car also.
The Pick-n-Pull Tracker system will now use the data developed in the interchange request and search a stores entire inventory to see if there are any matches! Each stores inventory is replenished every day with fresh cars, and that information is loaded each day into the Tracker application.
Customers can either go into the store of their choice to look-up cars, or they can call 1-800-442-5865 and one of their Customer Service Associates will be happy to help them find the parts they need!
Stop by one of the Pick-n-Pull locations with your tools, pay a small
admission fee, find a vehicle with the parts you need and pull the parts
yourself! All of the vehicles are set on customized supports to raise them off
the ground so you can easily and safely pull your parts. The average Pick-n-Pull store has
14 acres and over 1,200 cars and trucks to choose from so chances are they have
the parts you need! Pick-n-Pull is proud of the fact that they recycle more than
250,000 vehicles and service more than 4 million self-service customers each
year.
Freshest Inventory, Great Prices!
Pick-n-Pull is an industry-leading chain of
self-service auto parts stores
providing recycled original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts at incredible
prices. For over 20 years, they have been offering quality parts for all makes
and models of foreign and domestic cars, vans and light trucks. Their selection
of parts is tough to beat with new arrivals daily and stores are

Drivin' For The Kids Ronald McDonald House
Somewhere in Michigan
September 16, 2009- The Cissel's warm welcome and comfy bed in Lake Havasu City before the
start, a police escort in Albuquerque, New Mexico and another one
through New York City; an oil change at someone's home; being handed
money at a stop sign for Ronald McDonald House; people following,
taking pictures, waving, and holding signs; telephone and email well
wishes; ranches, farms, and small towns; no tickets; many, many miles,
and many, many smiles, and now it's almost finished.
Tonight Dave is in
Canada and tomorrow, God willing, he'll be in Hyder, Alaska. It'll be
the end of months of planning and training, people met and never
forgotten.
Tomorrow is the last day of the 49 in 9 Drivin' for the Kids charity
run. Dave has done the driving and planning, but you've made the
difference by your donations. Ronald McDonald House thanks you for your
support, as does Dave.
"It's been a heck of a ride, and it's not over
yet." So check back tomorrow and ride along with Dave to Hyder, Alaska.
The Beginning ......
Fifty nine year old San Francisco Bay Area native Dave Schaub is going
on the trip of a lifetime this fall. The Los Gatos, California resident
and founder of Schaub's Meat, Fish and Poultry located in Palo Alto,
California will set out Tuesday, September 8th to drive his 1932 Ford
hot rod roadster through all 49 continental United States in just nine
days. That's 9,800 miles in just 216 hours.
For every mile he travels, Dave is encouraging followers and supporters to donate a penny or
more to the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford.
Click above to learn more about Dave, his Roadster, the trip, the BLOG, the progress and his photos.

to more land speed records than anywhere else on the planet. The
Bonneville Salt Flats gained in popularity during the '30s, and since,
it's attracted participants from around the world wanting to show what
their vehicles are made of. If it's got wheels and a motor, there's
probably a class for it to compete in at Speed Week; everything from
motorcycles to modified '30s hot rods to rocket-powered cars run during
the event.
A few photos by Joe Streng over at Sacramento Vintage Ford during Speed Week. That's Joe in the photo above. We have been following his progress in our earlier newsletters.

Joe also stopped by the Flying 'A' Garage while he was driving through the desert.
